Attention AAPM&R members: We would like to introduce you to one of the newest communities in #AAPMR; Physiatry in Skilled Nursing Facilities!
Led by Dr. Azlan Tariq and Dr. Steve Gnatz from Integrated Rehab Consultants, this community was developed for providers currently working or interested in working in the post-acute rehabilitation environment. This type of rehabilitation typically takes place inside of a licensed Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and has also been called sub-acute rehabilitation.
PM&R providers in this setting usually focus on managing short-term pain, functional rehabilitation, and recovery for patients with physical and cognitive impairments or disabilities, adding a beneficial layer of clinical oversight and capabilities to SNFs specializing in rehabilitation.
What are the goals of the Member Community?
- To provide support and education to providers who are currently working or are interested in working in the Sub-Acute Rehabilitation Environment.
- To foster an environment of inclusion and engagement
- Provide a place for peer support and networking as well as opportunities for grassroots projects.
These groups are organized through PhyzForum, the Academy’s online forum where Member Communities can connect, share experiences, and advance the future of the specialty together via discussion boards and blog posts. Each Member Community has a dedicated presence on PhyzForum, and there’s also a mobile app for instant access to discussions with peers. AAPM&R Member Communities are open to all members of the Academy.
